Motion Design Art Direction Systems Design

Challenge

A single booth needed to scale from one event to a cross-country pop-up series to a fully reimagined global program. That meant motion and sound that delivered in person, plus a system robust enough for new designers to produce consistent assets without one person art-directing every piece.

Solution

I helped build a cross-discipline design system that let new designers onboard fast and create on-brand assets across regions, formats, and mediums. I designed the motion system from the ground up and directed the full soundscape, shaping the visual rhythm and sonic identity alongside the new art direction. This removed the single-art-director bottleneck so the program could scale.

Motion with depth

Layers move at different speeds, creating subtle parallax that feels dimensional and alive.

Purposeful scale

Motion scales holder shapes into more focused content, transitioning photography from wide vistas to intimate moments.

Seamless continuity

Typography and imagery emerge through layered transitions that create rhythm and clarity.

Scene transitions

100% ease out, 100% ease in. Match cuts with follow-through create a smooth, uninterrupted flow.

Scale transitions

Entering elements use 40% ease out, 90% ease in. Exiting elements reverse the curve.

Text transitions

If text isn't revealed through a holder shape, unmask in the direction of prior movement. Default to bottom-to-top.
